Frequently Asked Questions

(1)    What is Re:Activism?

-    Re:Activism is a big-urban-game that revisits locations of historic protests and teaches game participants about the events and related social causes. In order to progress through the game, the participants raise awareness of protest events by creating present day interventions and public interactions. Teams of game-players race from location to location to complete challenges and use activist tactics to increase their score. The teams also use mobile phones to send and receive text messages as they progress through the game and complete challenges. The Twin Cities version will have a considerable focus on the 2008 RNC in St. Paul.

(2)    Do I need to have a team?

-    You’ll need to be part of a team to play the game, but you don’t need to assemble one on your own before hand. Just show up! Black Dog, 308 Prince St., St. Paul. 12pm sharp. We can help figure out the rest.

(3)    What do I need to bring?

-    At least someone on every team will need to have a cell phone in order to text responses to key questions and at least someone on every team will need to have either a camera, video camera, or cell with either built in already. Everything else you’ll need for the challenges will be provided by us.

(4)    Is it family-friendly?

-    It’s intended to be. Re:Activism is going to be a fun and exciting way to move about town, and hopefully a more engaging alternative to the standard, boring history lesson. There’s a fair bit of walking involved, so that might be a consideration if you have small children.
